Marjorie Roberts Walker, 98

GORHAM-Marjorie Roberts Walker, 98, passed away on February 13, 2010 at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough. She was the fourth child of six of Emily and Edmond Roberts. She spent her childhood in and graduated from schools in Pawtucket, RI.

Midge was an exceptional artist. Water colors were her favorite and she passed her skill on to her only daughter Susan.

She graduated from Mass General Hospital as an RN in 1933. She helped her husband James E. Walker run the Dairy Farm for 20 years in Gorham, ME.

She had a deep love for Bustins Island in Casco Bay, where she enjoyed 65 wonderful summers. She was an avid tennis player and continued to be an accomplished swimmer from her years as captain of the swim team in high school.

She was predeceased by her husband James R. Walker and his son James R. Walker Jr., sisters Nellie Collins, Doris Holt, and a brother Lester Roberts of RI.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Dearing Martin and husband Daniel of Cape Elizabeth. Susan is the daughter of the late Charles E. Dearing III. Also surviving her are sisters, Lois North of RI and Audrey Mitchell of PA; Christopher Walker and his wife Ellen; Nancy Walker Zeller and her husband Jack; as well as three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Brett Mckee of Raleigh NC, Sarah Mosqueda and her husband John and their son Charlie of Austin TX, Dr. Seth Mckee and wife Esther and their son Jessie of St Petersburg, FL.

A celebration of her life will be held this summer. Arrangements are by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
